Principal’s Message
Kia ora
As the weather is getting cooler it’s great that students are coming dressed warmer but we are getting increasing amounts of lost property. Children get warmer as the day goes on, they put the jacket or sweatshirt down and then seem to forget about it. Please label your children’s clothes, jackets especially can be quite expensive and telling one dark jacket from another can be quite difficult.

Katrina Day
Celebrations
Welcome to Shona, Cortez and Chyna who have joined us from Pukekohe.
Also Donntae who has transferred here from Corinna School.
Attendance
Homework Passports
“Homework Passports” were sent home in Term 1, there is no rush, they are designed to be worked on over the whole year. We encourage all students to work on completing all of the tasks to earn a great trip in November, juniors to Jumparama and seniors to Adrenalin Forest. The only way to earn a place on these trips to return their fully completed passport and workbook to the Principal to sight and sign off.
If you would like any worksheets or materials to support your child’s goals please check with their classroom teacher.

Last week we acknowledged Road Safety Week, culminating in our Yellow Day on Friday. Our senior classes also had a fantastic session with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra exploring percussion.

Vaccinations
Our school hall is hosting a vaccination clinic on Saturday 16 May, 11:00am – 2:00pm.
Getting doctor’s appointments can be difficult so this could be a good chance to get vaccinations sorted.
Garden to Table
We are looking for a Garden Specialist, this is a one day a week (Thursday) paid position. If you know of anyone who is a keen gardener and would enjoy working with children please have them contact our school office.
The pictures below show some of our Kōwhai students working on the food preparation with our kitchen specialist Linda.
