Welcome to the 2026 school year, we have gotten off to a very settled start, our students (and staff) all seem very happy to be back and are getting right to work.
Swimming starts this week, it is an important part of our curriculum, teaching both swimming strokes and water safety. All students are expected to participate, just as they are with maths or reading. Please let the classroom teacher know if there is a medical reason your child can not participate that week and please send students with togs and a towel on Wednesdays.
Over the holidays we have installed a new path leading to the back door of the hall – this allows for much safer movement of students to the hall as they now do not walk via the carpark. We are now locking both gates by the carpark from 9:00-3:15, students exit points from the school are the front gate by the office or the side gate on the Nuanua driveway. We are sure that any minor inconvenience this may cause is offset by improved safety for all of our students.

It is with great sadness that we share the news that one of our staff, garden specialist, Alison Kurukaanga passed away during the holidays.
Alison made a wonderful contribution to our kura, and our garden is a testament to her presence, care, and commitment.
Ko te utu o te aroha, ko te mamae, Loss is the price of love.
Knowing the respect and care held for Alison, please do not hesitate to seek support.

Last week “Homework Passports” were sent home, there is no rush, they are designed to be worked on over the next 3 terms. We encourage all students to work on completing all of the tasks to earn a great trip in November, juniors to Jumparama and seniors to Adrenalin Forest. The only way to earn a place on these trips to return their fully completed passport and workbook to the Principal to sight and sign off.
If you would like any worksheets or materials to support your child’s goals please check with their classroom teacher.

Our Garden to Table programme is up and running again this year, but we have made some changes to the programme with all classes having a turn. A senior class in the morning and a junior class in the afternoon. We are always on the hunt for extra hands to help in the garden so if you were available on any Thursday we would welcome the extra adult support for this.
