Room 2 2018

Room 2 has been learning about upcycling. Turing old furniture into new.
They have been upcycling an old book shelf for their class. When we found this bookshelf it was an awful colour and needed some love!

The children have learnt about undercoat and painting techniques, side to side or up and down.
They have been designing different geometric shapes and patterns using painters tape as part of their maths. These shapes have had inspiration taken from traditional Samoan Pe'a tattoos. They have had to measure the book shelf and answer word problems about length and area.

They have learnt about the voting system through casting a vote for the design idea they likes the most.

As a class they have been demonstrating the key competencies.

Room 2 has taken part in Garden to Table this term. They have had a fab time learning about seeds, garden tools and cooking meals!
On garden to table day half the class works in the garden and the other half are in the kitchen. The gardening kids were weeding, sowing seeds and adding compost. The children in the kitchen created salads, pita chips and a healthy dip, they also made delicious muffins to share. Garden to table teaches the children how to show C.A.R.E to our environment. They are learning to be kaitiaki!
Keep up the good work Room 2.
